Travel Training

Travel training is a free, one-on-one instruction program that teaches residents in West-Lafayette and Lafayette to ride CityBus. Travel training is not occupational therapy, nor is it intended to replace such therapy needed by certain riders.

Who can use Travel Training?

Anyone interested in learning how to ride CityBus can request travel training.

How to request Travel Training

Contact the Outreach Coordinator at (765) 420-2952 or outreach@gocitybus.com for ride help questions, trip-planning assistance, or to schedule a travel training session. Training hours are Monday-Friday between 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. A CityBus trainer will ride with you to your destination (and back if needed). Travel training reservations should be made at least one week in advance.

Travel Training Guidelines

  • At the scheduled time, you are asked to meet the trainer on the sidewalk outside your building/home. The trainer will not come to your doorstep or inside your building.
  • The trainer will accompany you to your destination. He/she will not be responsible for helping you with mobility. You may bring a personal assistant with you if you need help getting on/off a bus or walking to/from the bus-stop.
  • The training is free. However, you are still required to pay the appropriate bus fare to travel.
  • Safety is our top priority. The trainer may suspend the training at any time if the trainer feels there is a risk to your safety or her safety.
