LAFAYETTE, IN, April 14 – CityBus will begin serving southside Lafayette residents of Wabash Avenue and Elston Road with Flex, an on-demand CityBus offering powered by Via.
“Currently, Wabash Avenue and Overlook Pointe residents have to walk long distances (sometimes in areas without sidewalks) to take public transportation,” said Marty Sennett, CityBus General Manager. “But with Flex, they’ll have access to easy, affordable, on-demand transportation right outside their door.”
CityBus will offer the Flex microtransit zone service Monday through Friday, starting in late summer 2021. If Flex is successful, CityBus may expand the on-demand microtransit service to other areas in Greater Lafayette.
“We’re also excited to partner with Via to help riders book Flex trips,” Sennett said. “Via’s easy, on-demand mobile scheduling will help our passengers save time and avoid detours or delays.”
Starting in early August, CityBus riders can download Flex from the App Store or Google Play. Then, they’ll use the app to book Flex trips through this process:
