Bus Operator

CityBus is currently accepting applications for full-time and part-time Operators. Our Operators are community ambassadors who love to drive, poses excellent customer service skills and a dedication to helping people from all walks of life. Benefits You’ll Receive

Get Paid While You Learn! CityBus provides a paid training program, including Commercial Driver’s License testing preparation, for full-time and part-time positions.

Bus operators are provided uniforms and are eligible for fare-free bus passes for themselves and select members of their household.

Full-time positions are guaranteed 40 hours per week and are eligible for overtime pay for additional hours worked. Part-time positions work up to 30 hours per week.

Full-time positions are provided an attractive benefits package, including Health, Vision and Dental Insurance with Company contributions to employees’ Health Savings Accounts (HAS), enrollment in Indiana State sponsored Pension Plan, paid vacation, sick and personal days as earned, paid Holidays, and Short-Term Disability insurance.

New Operators are paid $15.21 per hour during their first 120 days, including training. Upon successful completion of the 120 day probationary period, Operators are paid $16.37 per hour. Wage increases along the pay scale are based upon hours worked with top pay for full-time Operators being $23.99 per hour and top pay for part-time Operators being $19.19 per hour.

Position Requirements

Candidates must be willing to work flexible schedules, be safety-minded and enjoy working with the public.

Ideal candidates will have a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with passenger and air brake endorsements, and an excellent driving record. Commercial Driver’s License is preferred but NOT required.

Candidates must have the ability to pass Department of Transportation physical examinations and drug screens. Candidates must also have the ability to pass a criminal background check.

**All positions are subject to the Collective Bargaining Agreement currently in place between CityBus and the Amalgamated Transit Union. Work assignments, vacation, and regular days offs are all subject to Operator seniority. New Operators will begin working with no seniority, and as a result must be willing to work flexible schedules, split shifts, weekends and possibly late night hours.
